Christmas Just Came Early to the Millions of Users of The PDF-Xchange Viewer with the Addition of OCR Functionality to Include the Option to Analyze Image/Scan Based PDF’s and Add a Text Searchable Layer – and Its Totally FREE!
Tracker Software Products is announcing they have released the initial fruits of their OCR development now integrated into the latest release of our current PDF-XChange Viewer PRO & Free versions. This will include the means to convert existing image based PDFs created from scanners and image files to fully text searchable and text selectable PDF files. The included OCR functionality will be offered in the latest version of the Viewer without restriction and at no charge now or in future releases.
They hope all users will enjoy this new feature – not available in any other FREE PDF Viewer/Reader/Editor – except as an expensive optional extra – or requiring a full product license fee payment !!!
With default settings optimal for most conversions, the new Viewer OCR functionality adds an invisible text layer on top of an image based PDF file with options for preserving or rasterizing existing Textual content, increase OCR accuracy as well as optimize performance. The resulting PDF will be fully text searchable and allow users to select, copy and paste plain text content, (without formatting or font information), out of the document.
A default set of languages including English, French, German and Spanish will be included and more language support files will be released prior to Christmas 2011.

Developers will be pleased to know that PDF-XChange Viewer ActiveX SDK will also include the same new embedded OCR functionality for their end users. This will not give developer access to controlling Viewer ActiveX OCR capabilities; however, developers with a PDF-XChange PRO SDK license and valid maintenance in place are entitled to the new PDF-X OCR SDK Module included in the current PRO SDK libraries as of last month.
