Only last week we exposed the record number of council employees receiving pay and perks [...] Read the rest of this entry »

MLAs get 11% pay rise

If you were to go on the streets of any town or city in Northern Ireland and ask people if they think politicians should get a pay rise, I don’t think you will find many who would agree. Unions try to mislead taxpayers over the public sector pay premium

The Office for National Statistics (ONS) has today published a report showing the difference in the average hourly pay of public and private sector workers. It shows that the pay gap was around 8 per cent in 2011, with the public sector coming off better. It is staggering that, despite the desperate need to reduce [...] Read the rest of this entry »

Whitehall bonus culture must end

It was revealed this week that Whitehall bureaucrats received over £22.8 million in bonuses in the last year. In a further indication that the public sector pay freeze is not being taken seriously enough, the Civil Service continues to pay out huge ‘performance-related’ extras to its staff.
