Without a doubt, both MMA fighters will be highly motivated for their “UFC on FX 2″ encounter, given the fact neither can afford a loss right now.

Thiago will be the bigger man coming to the fight, but he has struggled more in his recent fights. Prior to his UFC 138 win against Abedi, Thiago had lost three of his last four fights. Abedi had a lot of hype in the European MMA circuits coming into UFC 138, but most educated MMA fans knew he wasn’t quite ready for the top welterweights in the promotion. It was a good win for Alves, but he’ll need to do a lot more to get back into contention.

Both men are pretty even in the striking department, but Thiago does have more power in his strikes. Many talk about Kampmann’s top notch takedown defense, but few truly understand how skilled he is on the ground
