Katie Taylor beat Christina Linardatou by unanimous decision to become a two-weight world champion on an emotional night at the Manchester Arena.
The Irish star was brought close to tears by the crowd reaction during her post-fight interview, as she received an overwhelming amount of cheers at the end of a tough year.
Back in June, Taylor became undisputed lightweight champion in controversial fashion and faced lots of criticism regarding her decision win over Delfine Persoon.
However, there were no signs of this on Saturday night as she boxed beautifully for the majority of the bout to neutralise her opponent’s aggressive style.
When the judges’ cards were read out, Taylor was declared a winner with scores of 96-94, 97-93, 97-93.
“Thank you so much. I’m making history again, breaking boundaries again, I’m a two-weight world champion,” she said when eventually able to get her words out.
“We knew before the start it was going to be very, very tough.
“I’m so happy.
“I can’t wait to have a rematch with [Delfine] Persoon and a huge fight with Amanda Serrano as well.”
Conor McGregor reacted on social media, and said: “What a fighter Katie Taylor.
“Five-time world champion across two weight classes. Wow. Inspiration.”
