Going into his first pay-per-view fight at UFC 244, Gregor Gillespie was 13-0 and fighting in his hometown of New York at Madison Square Garden.

Despite all that he had going for him heading into the fight, things did not end well for Gillespie as Kevin Lee put him down with one of the fiercest knockouts you’ll ever see.

After a first-round that saw both men jabbing each other endlessly, Lee made the breakthrough after telegraphing Gillespie’s movements after a right-hand.

He had a high-left kick waiting for him and it couldn’t have connected any sweeter.

Take a look at the video below that shows Gillespie left snoozing on the canvas.

Twitter was quick to label the knockout one of the best of the year – even with Jorge Masvidal’s record-setting knockout over Ben Askren taking place in 2019 – but many took it a step further.

Is this one of the greatest knockouts in UFC history? It’s certainly in the conversation since it happened in Madison Square Garden, the kick sent him into the cage and he was fast asleep when he hit the deck.

Gillespie is an expert wrestler and needed to get the fight onto the canvas to try and dictate it, but Lee refused to let that happen and kept a low stance the whole fight.
