Danny Murphy has told talkSPORT he believes there is ‘absolutely no way’ Manchester City will sanction a swap deal for Raheem Sterling and Gareth Bale.
It has been claimed the Spanish giants want to offer the former Tottenham attacker plus cash sum in exchange for City’s brilliant forward Sterling.
Real representatives are supposedly set watch Sterling play for his country later this month in Euro 2020 qualifiers against Montenegro at Wembley and Kosovo in Pristina.
However, former Liverpool midfielder Murphy believes Etihad chiefs would reject the proposed offer in an instant.
“There’s absolutely no way in the world that’s happening,” the former Liverpool star told talkSPORT.
“Why would you got for that if you were [Manchester] City?
“You’ve got an injury-prone, ageing player, who’s a great player, but injury-prone and then Raheem Sterling – so essentially a player who won’t play every week and £70m.”

He added: “They don’t need £70m, there’s nothing in it. The only thing in it is if Sterling wants to go. If he does City have a problem.
“If he knocks on the door and says: ‘I want out’. I can’t see that happening.”
“He might have aspirations to play abroad but [Real] Madrid are struggling. It’s tight at the top of LaLiga but they’re not flying in the Champions League at all. They only got their first win in round three.”
