Azerbaijan vs Wales: What has been said?
Gareth Bale heads into Wales’ decisive Euro 2020 qualifiers admitting he is far more excited to play for his country than Real Madrid.
Bale has been linked with leaving Real for several months and has been at the centre of a Spanish storm by going away on international duty despite not playing for the club since October 5.
“I definitely have more excitement playing for Wales,” he said. “I’ve been with most of the older players since we were in the under-17s.
“It’s like playing with your mates down the park on a Sunday. It’s normal.
“With Wales, I’m speaking my own language and feel more comfortable. But it doesn’t change what I do on the pitch.
“I always give 100 per cent on the pitch wherever I am, that’s what I always strive to do.”
Azerbaijan vs Wales: How the group table looks
Wales are fourth in their group but still have a reasonable chance of qualifying.
Giggs and co will progress if they beat Azerbaijan and Hungary and Slovakia drop points against Croatia or Azerbaijan.
Wales will also know that Croatia need a point against Slovakia on Sunday to qualify.
