Rangers fell two points behind bitter rivals Celtic at the top of the Scottish Premiership as Aberdeen produced a superb comeback to snatch a point in a 2-2 draw at Pittodrie.

Steven Gerrard’s side surrendered a comfortable lead to lose ground on their city rivals, having been in second by just a singular goal prior to the match

Strikes from Scott Arfield and Ryan Jack looked like the Gers were on their way to a comfortable three points, before Jon Gallagher netted one for Aberdeen and Andrew Considine hauled them level.

The point keeps Aberdeen in third place, though now just one point clear of Motherwell, as Rangers were made to rue defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, Celtic claimed a crucial 2-1 win over Hamilton Academical.

Neil Lennon’s men led for most of the game when Ryan Christie netted his 16th of the season after just 13 minutes.

However, it looked liked the pace-setters were also about to drop points when Marios Ogkmpoe’s shock 90th-minute strike looked to have claimed the visitors an invaluable point.

But Scott Brown pounced to net in stoppage-time to secure an 11th consecutive win.
