Romelu Lukaku and not Alvaro Morata was Antonio Conte’s first choice to replace Diego Costa at Chelsea, according to Michael Emenalo.

The Spain international played a key role in Chelsea’s Premier League title winning campaign last season, but was exiled by his manager following a series of bust-ups and sold to Ateltico Madrid in the summer.

Conte has earmarked Belgium international Lukaku as his primary target but the former Everton star snubbed a return to his former club and opted to become Manchester United’s record signing.
