By Kelly Hayes
The Democratic National Committee is launching a new ad to showcase President Joe Biden’s support for Cuban liberty.
The ads will be distributed in a digital campaign provided in both English and Spanish, and will highlight “Biden’s commitment to the Cuban people and condemnation of communism as a failed system,” according to a news release.
“President Biden has been incredibly clear: the Cuban people are crying out for freedom and the United States will continue to stand with them and hold Cuban officials accountable for their abuse of basic human rights,” DNC Chair Jaime Harrison said in a statement. “The DNC is committed to using our resources to speak directly to the Cuban community in South Florida to make sure they know that President Biden and Democrats have their back.”

…The weeklong campaign in English and Spanish will cost “five figures” and reach nearly one million Floridians in the Tampa Bay, Miami-Dade and Palm Beach County regions, according to a Democratic National Committee spokesperson. It begins Saturday.
Last week, Biden announced he would sanction several military officials in Cuba who he said are responsible for the communist regime’s recent violent crackdown on protesters. The president also said his administration was working to provide a way for Cubans to get around their government’s efforts to block internet access.

Building Back Together — a non-profit focused on advancing parts of the Biden agenda — is spending nearly six figures on digital and radio ads in central and South Florida denouncing the Cuban regime and supporting the Biden administration’s recommended actions.
Not alone — This effort is coming at the same time the DNC is moving ahead with its own digital ad campaign designed to reach out to Cuban American voters on Facebook and Instagram stating that “communism is a universally failed system” — while highlighting Biden’s support for Cuban protesters. “The DNC is committed to using our resources to speak directly to the Cuban community in South Florida to make sure they know that President Biden and Democrats have their back,” DNC chair Jaime Harrison said over the weekend after announcing the ad campaign.
