DNC Chair Jaime Harrison Takes Touting Bipartisan Infrastructure Law to New Heights with Hits in Media Markets Across the Country

20 Dec

For the second time this month, DNC Chair Jaime Harrison kicked off a virtual press tour to speak directly to Americans in local media markets across the country about how the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law will create good-paying jobs, modernize our roads, bridges, and public transit, replace lead water pipes and service lines, improve access to high-speed internet, and so much more.

See the coverage for yourself:

In Indiana:

Harrison touted the new Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, bringing $1 trillion in funding to transportation, broadband, and utilities ($550 billion of which is new spending). Saying that the law’s provisions have wide public approval, Harrison says the most important job now is to “educate people about what is in this bill.”

“What we’re trying to do is to find relief for the American people so that they can provide more to their families,” Harrison said.

In Illinois:

“I’m really really excited,” said Jamie Harrison, chair of the democratic national committee. “And I think the impact of Illinois is probably even gonna be greater than we see in some other states. Pritzker and Democrats in the statehouse and the state senate passed a Rebuild Illinois Capital Plan, and I think, as a result of that, it is gonna match perfectly with the infrastructure law that was just passed in Washington D.C.”

Republicans Have No Agenda And Only Want To Divide Americans

20 Dec

Republicans have started to make their 2022 priorities clear and let’s just say, they probably should have kept it to themselves. Between pushing Donald Trump’s “Big Lie” and attacking teachers, Republicans have made it clear just how backward their priorities are. Not only do they have no legislative agenda, but unlike President Biden and Democrats, Republicans are totally uninterested in helping working families.

Republicans have made it clear they have no legislative agenda.

The only thing they stand for is dividing Americans and pushing Trump’s Big Lie.

ICYMI: Bloomberg: Biden’s Economic Performance Has Proved Unbeatable

20 Dec

**ICYMI**

Key Point: “U.S. financial markets are outperforming the world by the biggest margin in the 21st century, and with good reason: America’s economy improved more in Joe Biden’s first 12 months than any president during the past 50 years notwithstanding the contrary media narrative contributing to dour public opinion.”

Bloomberg: Biden’s Economic Performance Has Proved Unbeatable
By Matthew A. Winkler
December 20, 2021

U.S. financial markets are outperforming the world by the biggest margin in the 21st century, and with good reason: America’s economy improved more in Joe Biden’s first 12 months than any president during the past 50 years notwithstanding the contrary media narrative contributing to dour public opinion.

Exceptional returns from dollar-denominated assets, especially the S&P 500 Index in both absolute terms and relative to its global counterparts, can be attributed to record-low debt ratios enabling companies to reap the biggest profit margins since 1950. Corporate America is booming because the Biden administration’s Covid-19 vaccination programs and $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan reduced the jobless rate to 4.2% in November from 6.2% in February, continuing an unprecedented rate of decline during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Consider that real, or inflation adjusted, gross domestic product surged at an average annual rate of 5.03% in each of the first three quarters of 2021, and is poised to expand 5.6% for the year based on the average estimate of more than 80 economists surveyed Bloomberg. If that forecast proves accurate, it would be more than 2.8 times the average between 2000 and 2019 and double the average since 1976.

All of which makes Biden’s first year in the White House the standout among the seven previous presidents, based on 10 market and economic indicators given equal weight.

[…]

Corporate America was never healthier than under Biden in 2021. Efforts to support consumers flowed through to America’s companies, which are enjoying profit margins of around 15%, the widest since 1950, according to the Bureau of Economic Analysis. Non-financial profit increased 39.3%, making Biden No. 1 among eight presidents with Obama a distant second at 21.6%.

[…]

Americans are certainly feeling good. Consumer credit surged $196 billion through October, a record under Biden that is 27% more than the increase under No. 2 Donald Trump ($154 billion). Although some of the gains reflect a rebound from 2020 when the pandemic caused many consumers to retrench, they wouldn’t be adding debt if they weren’t feeling confident.

The way the jobs market is improving, it’s not hard to see why consumers are in such a good mood. Biden is the only president over the past half century with robust increases in non-farm payrolls (4.3%) and manufacturing jobs (2.6%), approaching the gains enjoyed by Carter in general employment (4.6%) and factory workers (3.9%). Trump, who inherited the longest expansion in modern times and said in 2015 he would “be greatest jobs producer that God ever created,” is an also-ran, with non-farm and manufacturing payrolls inching up 1.4% and 1.3%, according to data compiled by Bloomberg.

[…]

America’s economy is the envy of the world, looking at the foreign-exchange market. The dollar has strengthened 7.37% this year. That is the most under a first-year president since the greenback gained 17.8% for Reagan, according to data compiled by Bloomberg.

In another sign that the U.S. economy is a global leader under Biden, U.S. stocks outperformed the world equity market by 6.3 percentage points, the widest advantage since 1988, when George H.W. Bush was in the White House, according to data compiled by Bloomberg.

The good times may extend into 2020. Biden’s bipartisan $1.2 trillion Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act bodes well for the economy and American labor because it will rebuild the nation’s deteriorating roads and bridges as well as fund climate and broadband initiatives that create jobs. Even Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, who said his priority was preventing the Biden agenda, voted for the law along with 18 fellow Republicans.

[…]

The clear message from the market that tells all other markets what to do is that the people with the most at stake are betting on the Biden economy.

TLDR: President Biden Is Getting Our Economy Back On Track

17 Dec

When President Biden took office, he inherited an economy in dire straits as millions of Americans struggled to make it through the holidays, put food on the table, or buy gifts for friends and family. But now, President Biden is leading our nation through one of the fastest economic recoveries in history, as Americans are back to work, supply chain issues are improving, and the U.S. economy is in strong shape heading into 2022.

Unemployment claims have been steadily ticking down since President Biden took office, and the average number of Americans filing across the last four week is now at its lowest level since 1969.

Associated Press: “Jobless claims rose by 18,000 to 206,000, still low by historical standards. The four-week average, which smooths out week-to-week volatility, fell by 16,000 to less than 204,000, the lowest level since mid-November 1969 when the American job market was less than half the size it is now, according to Department of Labor figures released Thursday.”

Small business owners are feeling increasingly optimistic as consumer spending is up, new businesses are opening, and rural businesses are poised to receive a boost from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.

Forbes: “An American Express survey said consumer spending at small businesses hit an all-time high of $23.3 billion this year. That was an 18% increase from 2020.”

Forbes: “Fortified optimism among small businesses is also reflected in new business openings, the total number of which is higher through the first three quarters of 2021 than during the same time period in 2019, according to Yelp.”

Axios: “The $65 billion federal boost to expand broadband access in the U.S. will be a boon to the women-run companies on platforms like Etsy and Airbnb, especially as they see an increase in rural businesses.”

Supply chain issues are continuing to ease and nearly 100% of packages delivered by UPS, FedEx, and the US Postal Service are arriving on time.

CNN: “Deliveries of packages by UPS, FedEx and the US Postal Service are all moving at close to 100% on-time performance, according to data from ShipMatrix, a software provider that works with parcel shippers.”

Gene Seroka, Executive Director of the Port of Los Angeles: “The sustained and unmatched demand by the American consumer is pushing our import numbers to new levels … We’re on track for an all-time import record in … 2021.”

Bloomberg: “In a sign that supply-chain constraints may be easing, the IHS Markit index of supplier deliveries at U.S. factories improved to a seven-month high.”

Manufacturing output surged to a near three-year high, and the U.S. economy is in strong shape heading into 2022.

Reuters: “U.S. economy poised for strong end to 2021; labor market tightening”

Reuters: “Production at U.S. factories increased to its highest level in nearly three years in November as output rose across the board, providing a powerful boost to economy as the year ends.”

Homebuilder confidence continues to rise as demand is expected to remain strong heading into the new year.

Dow Jones: “U.S. Home-Builder Sentiment Rose Again in December”

ABC News: “New home construction in the U.S. rebounded 11.8% in November as strong demand continues to boost builder confidence even with the slower winter season approaching.”
