Following two consecutive years of virtual sessions, the United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues will take place this year in a hybrid format, open to in-person and online participation. Running from 25 April to 6 May 2022, the twenty-first session of the Permanent Forum will focus on indigenous peoples, business, autonomy and the human rights principles of due diligence, including free, prior and informed consent.

The resumed thirty-first Meeting of States Parties to the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea will be held at Headquarters on 8 December 2021 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., for the purpose of filling one vacant seat in the Commission on the Limits of the Continental Shelf allocated to the members of the Commission from Latin American and Caribbean States.
The 2021 United Nations International Media Seminar on Peace in the Middle East will be held virtually this year on Tuesday, 16 November and Wednesday, 17 November.
The Commission on the Limits of the Continental Shelf will hold its fifty‑third session from 6 October to 23 November 2021. This is the first session of the Commission convened since the onset of the COVID‑19 pandemic. It will be held in‑person at United Nations Headquarters with the necessary risk‑mitigating measures in place.
