Marvel Studios hasn’t always appeared to be the most diverse production house in the world but Black Panther could see Marvel treading new, more sub-cultural ground.
The film, which precedes the studio’s other early 2018 blockbuster, Avengers: Infinity War, due for release in April, follows Chadwick Boseman’s T’Challa, who is the first black Marvel character to lead his own movie.
While black characters like War Machine have featured in the MCU before, they sit behind the lead characters, in the case of this example, in Iron Man.
