Mark Clattenburg’s former boss Keith Hackett has hit out at the referee for his ‘nonsense’ claims about Tottenham and Chelsea.

Hackett, a mentor of Clattenburg’s and the former general manager of the Professional Game Match Officials Board, expressed his disappointment at the controversial comments.

Clattenburg claimed he ‘allowed’ Tottenham to ‘self-destruct’ against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in 2016 and deliberately avoided sending off Spurs players.
