A senior Anglican minister has apologised for saying Christians should pray for Prince George to be gay.

Very Rev Kelvin Holdsworth suggested last week that if the third in line to the throne was ‘blessed with the love of a fine young gentleman’ it could pressure the Church of England into supporting same-sex marriage.

The Scottish Episcopal Church clergyman said ‘a royal wedding might sort things out remarkably easily’ but we may have to wait 25 years for it to happen.
