Rape victim won’t receive payout because she’s got a criminal record

A victim of a vile sex abuse gang has been denied a payout for her harrowing ordeal because she has a previous criminal conviction.

The woman – whose attacker was convicted under the widespread Operation Sanctuary abuse scandal – spent time in juvenile detention as a result of her abuse.

For that reason, she was not granted any compensation.

The decision sparked outrage among many – including Newcastle Central MP Chi Onwurah, who brought it up in the House of Commons.

As a result, the Ministry of Justice has promised to investigate.
